    Q: Events - Getting Started
How do I use the Events category?

A: Here are the basic steps:

    - Login to control panel
    - Click 'More Categories' - left-hand column, just above 'Art and Images'
    - Click 'Events' - right-hand column, light blue
    - Click 'Add New'
    - Enter as much info as you have for the event

    ------------
Note: Events are listed chronologically by the beginning date of the event. The end date is also important, as when that date is past, the event will be classified as 'archived' and will no longer list as a current event (one would need to click the link at the bottom of the page 'View archive of past events').

Please use both beginning and end dates when entering your events.

By the way, if you list a reception, and that date is before an event date, the reception will be listed first.

Make sure to enter dates as NUMBERS.
Tuesday, April 1, 2014, needs to be entered as 4/1/2014
    ------------

    - Click 'Add & Save Now'

    =====================

    ADD EVENTS TO NAVIGATION BAR:

Now you'll want to show your Events on your Nav Bar:

    - From control panel:
    - Click 'Edit Navigation Bar' (left-hand column)
    - For an unused category, select 'Events' from the drop-down
    - Add Override Text to the right, if you want to rename the category
    - Click 'Submit'

Q: How do I share my upcoming events on social media?
How do I share my upcoming events on social media?

A: Here are some ways you can share an upcoming event on social media sites.

If you are working from a mobile device, you can install and use the Facebook and Twitter apps to easily share any pages from your website. On a phone, for example:

    Go to your event page
    Click the menu button
    Click Share

All of the sharing apps installed on your phone will appear. For example, if you click Facebook, a new window will pop up with the link to the event, a space for some text and a "Post" button.

    ==========

If you are sharing from a regular computer, you would just need to go to the event page. Copy the url at the top in the address bar. Then paste it into the status section of the social media site where you want to share it.

    ==========

Another thing you can do is install your own Facebook and/or Twitter buttons on your event page. You can create the button on the social media site and they will provide you with some html code. You would then paste the code into your event page.

Here are the sites where you can create the buttons and obtain the html code. These buttons will allow you, as well as others, to share your event.

    Facebook buttons:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins

    Twitter buttons:
    https://dev.twitter.com/web/tweet-button

    Twitter "Click to Tweet" button:
    https://clicktotweet.com/

Once you have the button code, you can add it to the event page, as follows.
    FASO Control Panel
    Click More Categories
    Click Events
    Click Edit for the event
    Text area - click HTML
Paste the button code in the HTML Editor
    Click Update
    Save Changes

Q: How Do I Add An Image to My Event?
How Do I Add An Image to My Event?

A: Our developers added new fields to the Events page: address, city, state, zip, phone, url and image (the built-in feature for adding a picture).

NOTE: These features work ONLY with Generation 2 or higher templates.

****These features do not work on the older templates.

To add an image using one of the Enhanced Site Styles, simply use the built-in option for image.

On older site styles, add the image directly into the text box area.

    Here's how:
    -click on EDIT CATEGORY INFORMATION
    -click on Events
-click on Edit to the right of the event
-activate your cursor in text box area (where you want the image to appear)
-Click on Image Gallery icon (in small tool bar, top edge of text box - a mountain & sun icon - on the far right)

-A window will pop up with three ways to add an image:
    1. Add a New Image from Your Computer
    2. Use an Image that you've already uploaded
    3. Use an Image from the another Website

    -click on your preference
    -select image
    -click Insert
    -Click Save Changes
