Wilf Warkentin is an award winning artist from British Columbia's south coast.
The son of the late landscape painter Henry Warkentin, art captured his attention at an early age when he spent many hours watching his dad at the easel as well as going along with him to his classes at the home of the late William Alexander, host of PBS' "The Magic of Oil Painting". That started him in oils, but he didn't begin painting full time until 1979, instead pursuing a career as a guitarist and he has since shared the stage with many celebrities, including nine Grammy winners and recently released his first solo instrumental CD “Cabin Fever".
From oils Wilf moved to watercolor until a conversation with Stephen Lyman had him change to acrylics, now his favorite medium.
Wilf was awarded the 2007 "Best New Artist Flat Work” at the Calgary Stampede art auction and is the featured artist on Ganton and Larsen Prospect Winery's VQA  Silver Medal winning "Red Willow  Shiraz" label in a series that showcased artists of the Okanagan's Wine Country.  He was  awarded the Boldbrush Painting Contest "Outstanding Abstract" award  June 2015 , January 2016, and February 2017.
He now lives in Chilliwack, BC near the scenic Vedder River.
