An example of fine art by Vonnie Kohn

Photo of Vonnie Kohn

Vonnie Kohn is recognized as an artist with a rich heritage. As the daughter of a saddle maker in the historical stockyards of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kohn was accustomed in early years to the smell of leather, jingling spurs, and Stetson hats. Cowboys and ranchers were frequent visitors to her father's saddle shop. This early exposure inspired a love for painting the American West. Her Native Cherokee heritage also contributed to a deep respect for Native Americans. Her portrayals of Contemporary Native American life reflect interaction with the life and customs of her father's people.
Having a Batchelor of Fine Art from Texas Wesleyan University in fine art and studio painting, she is also a printmaker, sculptor (lost wax process) in bronze casting, workshop instructor and juror, and recipient of numerous awards. Her credits include:

And with every new painting comes another moment of learning as Michaelangelo once said, "And still I am learning...".  I am so blessed, getting to do what I love most..painting my interpretation of God's 'celebration [...]
