Artist Vicki Williams-Patterson

An example of fine art by Vicki Williams-Patterson

I've been drawing and painting since I could hold a pencil. In 1977 I received my BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. Then I moved to California where I was active at Clay Dimensions Studio and Many Hands Artists Coop, while working at the Fine Art Store. Finding that the artist's life was a very solitary one, I reached out to my community for a more interactive experience.

Giving classes for children at Clay Dimensions led to volunteer work at "The Bridge", a shelter for runaway teens. One of the social workers commented to me, "This art stuff seems to be pretty therapeutic...why don't you see if there is more information about it?" I went to the University of California library and discovered Art Therapy!

I received my Masters of Creative Arts in Therapy from Hahnemann University in 1983.  Since then, I have been working as an Art Therapist in San Antonio, TX. Now I'm ready to return to my first love, "Makin' stuff", ready to express all the passion, healing, and courage that I have experienced over the years.
