An example of fine art by Verena Rose Burley

Rose is a maritime Canadian artist who works primarily in soft pastels but also paints in watercolours and acrylics.  She loves the immediacy offered by pastels and is inspired by their vivid colours. She is fascinated by the versatility with which they can be used to achieve a myriad of different effects.  Striving to make the every-day into the extraordinary, she is driven to paint scenes reflective of the natural beauty of the east coast, bringing them to life with light, colour, and movement.
Rose grew up surrounded by art. Sculpture, pottery, drawing, and painting are part of her family’s heritage and have been in her life for as long as she can remember.  Being raised on a small farm on the shores of the Bay of Fundy contributed greatly to her love of nature and animals, and exploring the local beaches was a large part of her childhood.  Much time was spent freely roaming; discovering all the land and sea had to offer.  It is that childlike wonder and sense of exploration that she endeavours to capture in her work; whether an up-close admiration of the play of soft reflections, or a general impression of an east coast landscape.
