Photo of Valerie Morone

Valerie has been drawing and painting since she was a child growing up in New York City and New Jersey. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Northern Arizona University with additional studies at Kansas City Art Institute and School of Visual Arts. She started her illustration career at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri where she worked as a Line Designer and Artist for several years. Since moving to New Jersey, she has worked as a freelance illustrator. While raising her two children she was designing greeting cards, stickers, gift bags, book illustrations, and backgrounds for short animated films. Valerie has also taught art to children and adults through private art lessons, community college continuing education classes, and volunteer work in public schools and in her community.
Since 2014 she transitioned from illustration to dedicating her time to painting in the studio and en plein air. Her plein air painting experience started while participating in Paint Out Princeton in New Jersey and taking plein air workshops with various artists in Sedona Arizona. Landscapes of trees, gardens, and water scenes are subjects of her New Jersey plein air paintings. While in Arizona she paints desert scenes of cactus, canyons, and the red rocks of Sedona. Each environment has its own unique personality, sense of light, and atmosphere which she strives to capture for the viewer.
She is an ambassador for the Princeton University Art Museum, member of The Laurelton Art Society, Brick, NJ, Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury, NJ (Exhibiting Member), and Oil Painters of America (Associate Member).
