About the artist:    Remember First Grade and that new box of crayons? The waxy aroma, the perfectly pointed tips, and the vibrant colors?
I have this experience every day.......entering my studio. Born in Indiana, raised in Indiana, and have worked a lifetime in Indiana. Age 8: My
first "outside the box" creative experience.........pouring turpentine, coffee, and grape juice on paper. Best "art education" experience:  Three high school years of learning with Mark Brown, a professional artist, with a New York studio, that wanted a teaching experience. Favorite colors:  purple with green, and butter yellow too.  Favorite brush:  an inexpensive flat.  Favorite glue: Elmer's EXTREME jumbo glue stick.
Favorite plants: Pansy, Phlox, Verbena, Twice Bloomed Cynthia, Japanese Maple. What's new?: Resin and Acrylic pours. My Muse is Martha.

Artist Statement:    Shifting quality of light, diversity of textures, and negative spaces, are the primary elements of my work. My art usually builds from the awareness of negative spaces, then gradually becomes....as paper, ink, and botanicals make their contributions. Art is a way for me to meet myself....one step at a time. I learn to trust myself. My focus is to take a creative step each day. My goal is to be larger today than yesterday......to become is really quite a sensation.
