Artist Thomas Yacoe

An example of fine art by Thomas Yacoe

Photo of Thomas Yacoe

Thomas Yacoe is a California artist born in Chicago in 1955. From a very early age he was moved by the world famous collections of the Art Institute of Chicago. But it wasn't until his teenage years, living in the Central Valley of California, that he first experienced the power of the California landscape. From Carmel to Jenner to Yosemite to Lake Tahoe, these scenes began to saturate his artistic vision.
He studied painting at UC Berkeley and the San Francisco Art Institute, receiving his BFA from the SFAI in 1977. He also earned Teaching Credentials in Fine Arts, English, and Multiple Subjects from Sonoma State University in 1987, and later an MA in Education (Art) from Stanford University in 1996. Thomas also had the good fortune to study with a number of iconic California artists throughout his college career. Always drawn to the power of Abstract Impressionism, his strongest influences remain Hans Hoffmann, Josef Albers, and Richard Diebenkorn.
