Biography

Terumi Paganini was born in Hiroshima, Japan. Her love of painting was seeded early in her childhood by a local Japanese artist. She came to the United States to study English at UCLA in 1969 and has lived here ever since. She always wanted to study art, but did not do so until 1999, when she saw Richard Schmid’s paintings in an art magazine and fell in love with them. She then decided to study art and signed up at the Pasadena Art Center at Night. After taking basic art courses, she studied under the private direction of Richard Lees. She continues to hone her craft through attending workshops and classes of Master Artists such as Frank Serrano, Shuqiao Zhou, Jeremy Lipking, Aaron Westerberg, Junn Roca, Michael Siegel, Timothy Tien.

Her work is characterized by an acute attention to detail and sense of realism, which she attributes to her early Japanese teacher. Her recent paintings were included in some juried exhibitions of OPA, CAC, Saga Fine Art and others.

She is an Associate member of the California Art Club, and a member of the Oil Painters of America. Having recently rekindled her childhood passion, she appreciates the opportunity to dedicate herself to painting.
