An example of fine art by Terri Wilson

Terri Wilson, a long time resident of Murphys CA, grew up in southern CA where her father ran a family photography business in North Hollywood. She recalls, in the early 1960’s -before professional color photography came into wide use- being a small child   quietly watching her mother bring black and white photo portraits to life with color, using oil paint on cotton, twisted onto the end of an orange wood stick. This transformation seemed magical. Not coincidentally, Terri spent hours drawing and coloring from a very early age. However her artistic pursuits were delayed until after she had married and her two children were school age when chance and circumstance presented her with an opportunity to create a graphite portrait for an acquaintance. Delighted with it, he commissioned more portraits from her and Terri realized it was time to take her art more seriously. With instinctive respect for the fundamentals, Terri began attending courses and workshops offered by artists she admired and honed her skills, experimenting with different mediums, techniques and styles while retaining her love of vibrant color. It is important to Terri that her art continues to evolve.
Today Terri is an award winning artist who has been featured in solo exhibitions in the Sierra Foothills; she has created scenic art for stage; her award winning acrylic painting, “Fresh Abundance”, was used promotionally for many years by the Wine Grape Alliance, and she has juried numerous regional art exhibits and shows.
Terri’s style is diverse while always retaining her sense of playfulness and use of rich color.   “Although my body of work is varied, I’d like to think my subject matter draws viewers in and invites them to participate, to use their imagination, to create their own ‘back story
