Biography

Teresa Silvestri is a watercolor artist born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Inspired by a love of animals and nature, her expressive and sensitive watercolor paintings feature animals in both natural and imagined settings.

Art came to Teresa late in life.  While she was creative and imaginative as a child, her parents encouraged practical studies and careers in business.  With no formal art training, Teresa took her first art class at a local recreational center and quickly developed a passion for bringing her animal subject matters to life.  She soon began her professional art career with pet portrait commissioned work and now focuses on painting a wide variety of animals of her choosing.  She is committed to featuring rescued animals--rabbits are her specialty--in her artwork to raise both awareness and donations.  For every rescued animal she paints, she donates a portion of her sales to the associated non-profit rescue and sanctuary organization.

Teresa’s art has been featured on the cover of JAVMA, the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.  Her award-winning artwork resides in the permanent collection of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford as well as private collections world-wide.  Teresa's artwork has been exhibited at the Portola Art Gallery, The Main Gallery, Woodside Gallery, Peninsula Gallery, Peninsula Museum of Art, Filoli Historic House & Garden Gallery, and Pacific Art League Main Gallery.

Her work may be found at Bay Area fine art festivals and online through her website and Etsy shop.  Teresa lives in Belmont, California, with her husband and rescued dog, TJ.  Inspired by the life and art of Beatrix Potter, her dream is to have a farm of rescued animals.  Until then, she enjoys painting in her home studio, inspired by her dog and the surrounding wildlife.
