The Artist Says:

"When I make art, my soul sings.  Through my work, I share with others the joy I find in the simplicity of a flower, the quiet of a long country road, the nostalgia of an old bicycle left behind, as well as the appreciation I have of people working, or playing, or taking care of everyday tasks.  Life is what we do, and that is what I wish to capture and preserve." Susie Burch

Painting in a series is exciting to me, because it affords me the opportunity to more fully explore a subject.  For example, I was struck with the beauty of cacti and succulents while on a golf trip to Arizona one winter.  Painting the "Some Like It Hot" series is a result of that awareness.

A more recent exploration is the "WORKERS, PART ONE" series of people going about their lives doing whatever they do on a daily basis.  We all have to do something, and no one likes to be idle.

Also, a trip to the coast of Maine triggered the "Rocks and Water" series. The enormity of the rocky coast was a bit overwhelming to me, and to try to capture it was too much for me at the time.  Therefore, I concentrated on the minute details of cracks within rocks, and smaller pools of water, as well as more manageable vistas.

The list goes on and on, and I can paint what inspires me until I leave this magnificent world.

Collectors Say:

"Hi Susie, here is Bellagio Morning, hung in our living room, right next to where I read the paper and drink my coffee. Thanks again, we love it!"  Chuck Murphy

After having lived in Atlanta, Georgia, for most of her life, Susie Burch now divides her time between an urban loft in downtown Athens, Georgia, and the Batesville community of Clarkesville, in the magnificent North Georgia Mountains.  Splitting her time in this way allows her to take advantage of both the high energy of urban living and the quiet contemplation of country life.

Earning a degree in Business Education, she taught high school for a few years prior to working in the business world until becoming a mother later in life.  Although Susie was an "Executive Wife" for many years, she was never idle.  Her love of gardening, and the joy of growing beautiful flowers and delicious food, being a perpetual volunteer in her community, traveling with her husband, raising her family, and always learning about painting in watercolor, oil and other [...]
