Biography


Hello.  Thank you for coming to my online studio today.
 
I cherish the creatures on this earth as well as the trees, forests, swamps and water that make up less and less a part of it’s important surface and life.  My landscapes and animal paintings may serve as a witness to what was, after too much of this life giving essence is clear cut, decimated or covered with concrete and macadam.

I have been painting and drawing since I was small child in Brooklyn, NY.  Growing up, I spent part of every summer in the ‘wilds’ of New Jersey at camp, where I fell in love with the natural world and animals.  Nature’s mysteries and beauties still remain the inspiration for most of my work.
 
This pursuit led me to college in upstate NY where I have lived ever since.  My studio, in the hills of West Danby, permits me easy access to the undeveloped world, whether it be distant hills or close details.  Canoeing and hiking in lakes and streams in the Boundary Waters, Algonquin Provincial Park and the Adirondacks affords me paddle entrance to places and wildlife not normally experienced from a car or path.
 
I earned a BS from Empire State College and an MFA in Illustration from Syracuse University, specializing in Natural Science and Technical Illustration and worked as a Freelance Natural Science Illustrator for many years until I started teaching Middle School.
