Biography

Growing up in the Southern part of Germany, I always loved to paint and draw. I discovered acrylic paints during my teenage years and most of my allowance went towards top quality, high end paints and art supplies. Over the years, art was put on the back burner due to a busy life and my career in chemistry (with a degree in paints and coatings!) and the wine industry. After my mother was diagnosed with dementia in 2003, creating colorful paintings and drawings was a constructive outlet for that devastating diagnosis and I picked up the paint brush again!

Being self-taught allows me to learn, discover and practice my individual style and technique, inspired by nature. Besides the phenomenal landscapes of the American Southwest, the fascinating places in the South and in Maryland, my place of residence, I also like to look for the less visible and not-so-obvious, such as the bugs and insects that cross my path in my garden.

I firmly believe in using only the best quality, made in Germany and the United States artist's paints. My studio contains Schmincke Primacryl and Golden Artist Acrylics, Schmincke Horadam Watercolors, Faber Castell Albrecht Duerer Watercolor Pencils, Faber-Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils, Molotov Ink Pens and Staedtler Pigment Liners, as well as Sakura Pigma Micron Ink Pens made in Japan. This guarantees light fastness and durability of my work. I've stored an acrylic test painting in our garden shed with freezing and boiling temperatures for the past five years, and it looks like new.

Thank you for joining me in my journey of discovering the beauty and colors around us :-)

I want you to be happy with your art and therefore have a 14-day no questions asked return policy.
