Artist Susan Fuquay

An example of fine art by Susan Fuquay

The joy of all art is quite simply a collaboration between spirits. Painting is so much more than what is seen on the canvas. It is an emotional connection between artist and viewer. A good work of art conveys the artist's thoughts, ideas and visions in a pleasing fashion connecting on some level with the viewer. Thus each work is unique to not only the artist's vision and brushwork, but also to you the viewer — because of your own unique experiences.
Always enjoying good design, I've loved creating and collecting beautiful things whether in textiles, interior design or art. Collecting and living with fine art nourishes and enriches life. Educated long ago in design, and now over the last 15 years my painting has grown and evolved under the recent direction instructors John Cook, Scott Conary, Kevin Macpherson, John Traynor, Julian Merrow-Smith (Postcards in Provence). I joyfully paint what I see — whatever inspires an idea or message — whether it be a landscape or still life. Hopefully what I see and express in my art will inspire and therefore bring you joy as well.
I have owned an antique shop, designed quilts and created and published a trade magazine for the quilting industry. Born in Chicago my journey includes spending time in Michigan, Indiana and Georgia before finally settling in Texas 41 years ago. You'll see many works from some of my favorite places: Texas, Santa Fe, California, southern France, Italy and England — my husband and I love to travel!
Coming up: Be certain to mark your calendar for Historic Fort Worth's Preservation is the Art of the City opening on September 5, 2019 and running through the month of September. I'll be exhibiting 10 of my paintings in three different categories.
