I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and as a child spent time fishing and walking on the coast and developed a love for the ocean.  I was influenced at a young age to draw and paint and my mother encouraged me.  My first award was winning a first Prize in an Art exhibit in the third grade.
While studying painting at San Francisco State University I was fortunate to take a Painting class from Robert Bechtle who has influenced and contributed to the Photo Realism style of painting and became an established artist and professor at San Francisco State University.
Since graduating from college and moving to the Pacific Northwest in 1991, back to my wife’s home state; I have visited the Oregon Coast many times and I have been moved and influenced with all the special moods, atmosphere, and beauty of the coast.
I love to paint Seascapes, Landscapes, Still life, Cityscapes, and close up paintings of Flowers approaching a Realist and Impressionistic presentation.  I have studied Architecture and I am fascinated by perspective; so I try to include some of the qualities of Architectural Perspective into my Seascapes and Landscapes.  I paint En Plein Air, and sketch and take photographs of the coast and finish a painting back in the studio.
I have taken classes / workshops with Mitch Baird, Erick Sandgren, Michael Gibbons, Mike Rangner, Bill Blackman and other artists over the years.
I previously was juried and accepted into the Corvallis Art Guild and I have displayed my paintings at various businesses and restaurants in the Corvallis area.  I am a member of the Corvallis Vista and Vineyards En Plein Aire painters.  I have exhibited my work at various times during the year at Giustina Gallery, La Sells Stewart Center at Oregon State University and Studio 262 Gallery Corvallis Oregon.
