Stephanie A. Siefken was born in the sunny North coast of Colombia, South America, of German, French, Basque and English ancestors. Growing up with a pencil in her hand, she used it on every piece of paper she could find, upgrading later on to canvas and paint brush, and then photography. Most of her inspiration comes from nature. In many of her works, reality and fantasy are intertwining and reflecting turquoise waters, including figures and exuberant vegetation. In contrast to lively color she has also diversified creating black and white art, in which sensual forms play with shadows to give a surreal environment to the painting. From childhood, art, photography, sciences and writing came together in a lifelong interest for Ms. Siefken. At the age of ten she won first price as the best child correspondent for the national newspaper El Espectador. She has traveled extensible through Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, The Caribbean and the United States, absorbing different cultural aspects from each place. Her interest in community, art and sciences converged when she studied social communication sciences, and specialized in journalism at the Pontifical Xaveriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, and worked toward a master degree in sciences at the University of the District of Columbia, in Washington, D.C. Ms. Siefken’s career took her to work as editor in chief at Mujer de America Magazine, correspondent for Mexican and Colombian publications, as press person at the United States Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia, in public relations as writer and photographer at Pan American Health Organization in Washington, D.C., and as the cross-cultural communications director at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Health. Now she is in coursing deeply in the art scenery offering us her paintings, product of her love of Nature, Art and Spirituality.  Ms. Siefken has believed in using [...]
