An example of fine art by Sheri Bare

I have worked as an interior designer for the past 35 years, the last few years I have developed a passion for working with clay. When I am not designing, I can be found in my studio researching, studying, and lovingly crafting creatures and objects from clay. I’m inspired by nature and animals, and strive to capture their grace and presence while also adding a bit of whimsy to each creation.
Though a lifelong resident of Lancaster County, I have traveled abroad and draw inspiration from centuries-old art and traditions.  I combine throwing, pinching, and hand building when crafting my pieces before adding layers of slip and underglaze.  Most of my work is fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln.
In August of 2019, I traveled to England to attend a 3 day workshop in Lazenby England with a master potter.  This trip has further helped to inform my body of work.
My husband and I lost our beloved dog Koko a few years ago.  In his 4 years, he taught us about love, loyalty, companionship, and vulnerabiility. His life, and loss, have driven the direction of my work.  I dedicate my work to his memory.  I hope the joy he enriched us with can be shared in the pieces I create.
