Light, shadows, texture and vibrant strokes of color are what Sean Wimberly strives to create with his intimate paintings of the Southwest.
Sean Wimberly was born in Houston, Texas where at a young age his parents provided him with oil painting lessons for a couple of summers at a local art supply store when they noticed that he had a natural ability for drawing.  As he became older his interests changed and he went on to graduate from Texas A&M University as an Engineer.  Eventually Sean and his wife, Sylvia, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he is now retired as an Engineer for the local Water Authority.  Soon after he moved to New Mexico, Sean visited local galleries and was inspired by many local artists as well as by the beautiful landscapes of the Land of Enchantment that is New Mexico.  His passion for painting that he learned as a child resurfaced and Sean, who is self taught, began to paint the scenery of the Southwest with watercolors.  For many years Sean successfully sold watercolor paintings through a well known gallery in Albuquerque.  One of his paintings is included within the New Mexico State Fair Permanent Collection.  Sean's paintings have been chosen to be prints for the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau, UNM Alumni Association, Red Cross and Weems Artfest.  He now paints exclusively with acrylics using palette knife and brush techniques.
Sean currently lives in the mountains near Albuquerque, New Mexico with his wife where the scenery just outside his window inspires him to paint.
