Artist Sandy Burr

An example of fine art by Sandy Burr

Photo of Sandy Burr

As a graphic designer turned photographer, my images are inspired by my training as a designer and I draw on those skills as I compose my images. Many images get further enhanced as I play with them in photo software. After years of searching for a way to coat my images to add depth and durability, I happened upon encaustics and I was hooked.
I grew up and spent a good part of my life in Connecticut, a beautiful state with a vibrant artist community. I went to school for graphic design just as the industry was turning to computers and worked in publishing and design. Pagemaker to Quark to InDesign. Illustrator 88. Whatever Photoshop initially was (Digital Darkroom?). I came into photography as a long-time Photoshop user, through the "back door" as I like to say. It's come a long way.
Now I live in Nashville and am blessed to have most of my immediate family here. Again I have found a growing arts community and have become a member of many art- and creative-based groups.
