Artist Sandra Wirth

An example of fine art by Sandra Wirth

Photo of Sandra Wirth

Sandra Wirth has been painting for more than 25 years developing images depicting her surroundings. She was fortunate to have had a neighbor who was a skilled teacher and and nationally recognized watercolorist. Ruth Alair shared her love of the process of painting in a medium that was not that forgiving. Sandra worked for years as a purist in watercolor depicting the scenes of her native  central Montanalife. CM Russell was well loved and studied by her in the beginning days of her art. She found success in many annual art shows.
A trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico changed everything. Not only did it widen the scope of her learning, it gave her a tremendous opportunity to experience new knowledge and exploration of other mediums including oil, pastel, and acrylic. There, she was able to have an outlet for her work on the famous Canyon Road Art scene with her own studio gallery. For fifteen years much fun and many collectors ensued.
To be closer to family, a move to Coeur d Alene Idaho brought new growth to her painting. Combining elements of realism, abstraction, and impressionic painting techniques, she adapted atmosphere of her surrounding that has become an integral part of her images. The changing reflection of nature has given freedom to the expression of the scenes she puts on canvas.
Always a student at heart, whether teaching or being taught by her peers, she sees tremendous possibilities of growth for the artist and student alike. She has experienced teaching youth in summer workshops and one on one mentoring of others.
