Sandhya Sharma holds her doctorate in International Relations and after working for several years in teaching, journalism and book publishing, has been studying Fine Art for past  14 years. In 2014 she earned the London Art College (LAC) Diploma in Painting and Drawing with a distinction and a Certificate of Merit in Life Drawing and in 2016 earned the LAC certificate in Portraits. 
To Sandhya painting is to record a moment of beauty that enriches our lives by leaving its mark along our journey through places, times, and lives. Her preferred medium is oil though she also enjoys working in watercolours, soft pastels, and pen and ink.
Born in Indore, India, Sandhya received her early art training at home and then at the Bharati Kala Mandir, Ujjain. After following a successful career as a journalist and editor she went back to studying Fine Art at the Magomedov Makhatch's Atelier at the Russian Cultural Centre, Tunis, Tunisia. There are multiple influences on her work as she studied largely from books, online courses and DVDs. This was interspersed with attending Summer/Winter School at the Florence Art Academy, Sweden,  Royal Drawing School, London, and workshops of several award winning artists like Paul Weaver, Stephen Bauman, Cornelia Hernes, Matt Smith, Martin Yeoman and more. 
Sandhya enjoys painting landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and still life as well as figures and portraits. For two years (2012-2014), Sandhya was the Instructor for the IWG Tunis Painting Group at her 'Atelier A 02', Route de La Marsa, Tunis. From 2014-2017 she taught classical drawing and alla prima painting to a select group of young artists at her 'Atelier Sukriti' in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire. Presently, she lives in Bethesda, Maryland, and teaches Classical Drawing and Alla Prima painting at her Studio. She is Member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA), the Mid-Atlantic Plein [...]
