Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it....
I have always enjoyed some form of creating in spare moments but it wasn’t until my children left home that I devoted myself to pursuing painting.  Art has been a journey that has allowed me to reconnect with myself during life transitions, establish friendships with kindred spirits, and added joy to my life by enabling me to see the world around me in ways I never dreamed possible. I am continually drawn to the beauty of nature, and living in Michigan there is no shortage of that.  The soft shades of Spring, the brilliance of a Summer’s day, and the explosion of color in Fall offer continual enticement. I look for shapes, lights, and shadows in the elements and attempt to translate them on paper into a pleasing composition.
To achieve this I prefer to work in watercolor or pastel medium.  I love the translucent effects of watercolor as well as the vibrant colors available in pastel.  Often I  use watercolor underpainting in my pastel works, gradually layering colors to achieve the effect I am striving for.
