Biography
I have always found inspiration in nature, light and shadow. I am a representational painter who works in the studio and in the field.
I struggle with the balance of keeping it simple and getting caught up in the detail. I enjoy working in both oils and watercolors. I enjoy the challenge of developing skills in each. I also keep up my drawing by working from a model, in charcoal, watercolor, and pastel. Though mostly self taught, I have studied with Rey Milici, Gregory Stone, and Paula Gottlieb.
I started painting as a child in rural Maryland.
I received a BFA from the University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art where I studied painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
After working as a designer / builder for my small construction company, my family in 2003 renovated an abandoned farm in Western Massachusetts. In 2015, I was able to find time to return to painting on a steady basis.
