An example of fine art by Sallie Spencer

Growing up in the midwest, Sallie’s appreciation for nature, art and architecture began at an early age.  Through participation in 4H and junior programs at local colleges and art guilds, she developed her artistic skills across a wide variety of media.
She received her BFA degree from Western Michigan University in 1987, and took additional fine arts/industrial design classes at Purdue University.  She worked as a graphic designer at Indiana Design Consortium, Inc., an advertising agency in Lafayette, Indiana.  Sallie moved to Glendale, California in 1993, and worked as a graphic designer at Electro Rent Corporation, while taking night courses at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She served as an Art Docent at La Canada Elementary, and helped to organize the school’s annual Art Museums.  For several years, Sallie attended Margot Lennartzs’ Contemporary Impressionist Artist weekly workshop. After living in Southern California for 18 years, Sallie and her family relocated to Marietta, Georgia. Where she worked on developing her skills in still life painting. In 2016, the Spencers moved back to West Lafayette, Indiana where Sallie paints daily from her studio.
Continuing her artistic education is always a desire, and Sallie has attended artist workshops led by Elizabeth Tolley, John Guernsey, Chis DiDomitizo, Peggy Kroll Roberts/Ray Roberts, Ken Backhas and Marc Hanson. She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, Hoosier Saloon and Oil Painters of America.
Sallie’s work can be found in private collections throughout the United States.
