Artist Richard Moure

An example of fine art by Richard Moure

Photo of Richard Moure

Richard began as many people do drawing at an early age.  A more formal foundation in art was set with classes at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C. in his teens. In his later teens he became his own worst critic and suspended his artwork. At times, for many years considered further training. However, not until after years in food, hotel management, woodworking and furniture restoration did the need establish itself.  Around the year 2006 with encouragement from friends and his wife he began taking oil painting lessons with Nancy Conrad a well known artist in Baltimore, Md. Later and and currently he attends classes with Lee Alban a nationally acclaimed artist from Havre De Grace, Md.
Richard paints a broad range of subjects. He favors portraiture but is moved by everyday images, interesting photos vintage and contemporary as well as live sittings. His work has been influenced by Masters such as Sargent and Sarolla as well as contemporary artists like Jack Vettriano , Peregrine Heathcote, and others. His work continues to evolve.
Richard now has been recognized for his work at Maryland Galleries. These include Baltimore County Art Guild, Harford Artist's Gallery, The Artist's Emporium, The Y Art Gallery, The Schuler School, and Taylors Art Collective. He received a Best in Show award in 2013 for Pictures at an Exhibition show with the Harford Artist's Gallery.
