Renee Billings Crawford is a native North Carolinian, born in Durham and raised in Winston-Salem.  After living in Massachusetts and Philadelphia for college, and then in Oregon for graduate school, she came home and settled in Raleigh in 1986 to stay for good.  Renee received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oregon in 1986 and her Law Degree from Duke University in 1996.  Renee paints in oil, focusing on portraits, figurative studies, still lifes and landscapes.  She has studied with international Master Impressionist Jerry Fresia as well as nationally-known artists Albert Handell, John Poon, Dan Beck, Michelle Dunaway, Daniel Gerhartz and Dawn Whitelaw, as well as Raleigh’s own Nicole White  Kennedy and Dan Nelson.  Her major influences are Joaquin Sorolla, Richard Schmid and Charles Movalli.  Renee is a juried member of Oil Painters of America, as well as a member of the American Impressionists Society and the Portrait Society of America.
