I am a watercolor artist from El Paso, part time librarian, and formerly very busy PTA volunteer at my daughters' school. When they became teenagers, I began following my passion for watercolor.  While I had no formal art education, I have always been creative and the looseness and vibrancy of watercolor spoke to me and I felt compelled to learn it. 
My 2014 artistic goal was to enter one watercolor in the juried El Paso Arts International show.  I had two paintings accepted and my fruit still life “Take a Bite” won that year’s watercolor award.  In 2015 I had over a dozen paintings in a members’ show of the El Paso Art Association, and was juried into that year’s Arts International. In 2016 I joined the New Mexico Watercolor Society, meeting fun like-minded artists, and participated in many shows and some art fairs.  I've also been on the board of the Southern Chapter of the group, covering the Las Cruces/El Paso larger area.  In 2017 I did more fairs and ended the year with a solo show at the El Paso Woman’s Club.
Since then I’ve continued to intensively focus on painting and drawing to enhance my skills and move to the next level.  In the spring of 2019 I achieved Signature Status in the New Mexico Watercolor Society which was a long time goal!  This means that a certain number of my paintings were juried blind into NM Watercolor Society exhibits over a certain period of time.  It also means that I can now sign my paintings with the initials "NMWS" after my name. 
I currently paint mostly close ups of nature's wonders and everyday aspects of life.  I strive for looseness, and blending of pigments on the paper, and I am fascinated with light and shadow.
