Growing up on the Georgia coast, surrounded by beautiful islands and marshlands, artist Penny Jones, developed a love for the outdoors and the desire to capture on canvas the beauty of God's creation. Being a realism style artist, she strives to capture the essence of life. From the sun rising or falling casting its glow on everything it touches, to the shadows dancing in its wake. With each stroke of the brush, her goal is to “welcome the viewer in, maybe stir up a long forgotten memory, or simply to make them smile”.
Her interest in painting began with a class at the YWCA when she was 15. She also studied under a few local artists including the late Bill Hendrix of St. Simon's Island, Georgia. Mainly self-taught with no formal education in arts, her work has evolved through experience over the years and has gained the respect of many clients.  Although relocating to other parts of the country through the years, she never lost her love for the coast, or the love of painting.
Her works have been on display in numerous venues, gallery and juried shows; and held in many private collections across the United States.
Penny has since relocated back home to the Georgia coast, where the beauty and inspiration have never faded.
