Born in the Florida wilderness as it was in the day, I spent my early childhood exploring the lush forests and ponds around my grandparents orange grove and plant nursery. Days were spent high up in a live oak tree observing wildlife and birds around and below me. I developed an early love of drawing and painting in response to what I observed in nature. In high school art was my passion, I won a small contest and the prize was a week internship at a large department store art department. This fueled my passion for fashion design and I attended a commercial art school after graduation to pursue this career. I worked in the commercial art field for a number of years.
I moved to the South Carolina Low Country in 1978 and was a student of William Leon Stacks, who was a talented, gifted teacher and painter. While being mentored by Stacks, I was also taught the fine art of painting restoration as he worked on many great paintings from museums and collectors all across the country. He taught me to find my own voice. He also taught me not to be afraid of color and to use it with passion.
With pastels as my main medium of choice followed by acrylics and oils I continue to listen to that voice. My work since the early 1980’s has been accepted in over 50 juried shows. I am signature member of the Southeastern Pastel Society, and a member of Excellence of The Appalachian Pastel Society.
 Today my work hangs in collections in the U.S. and abroad.
