Biography

I began painting in 2001. My mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolor, and block prints. Natural objects and landscapes attract my attention. However, rather than painting them realistically I try to paint my impression of the subject and how it makes me feel. I hope my works evoke nature's emotions for you as well. My works have been featured in several juried  and open shows.

Most of my paintings are completed in the studio, but plenn air painting is an important part of my art practice. My studio is set up with two easels as well as a table. The easels are used for oils and acrylics while the table provides a platform for watercolors and block prints. My wife and I like to take sketching walks near our Seattle home and my watercolors often find their way into my bag for plenn air painting. Many of these studies eventually find their way into studio paintings.

Travel provides an opportunity for much plenn air painting. We blog about our travels, painting, and photography at: http://travelswithpicasso.wordpress.com We like extended stays in Europe for studying painters and their paintings at museums and galleries in England, Ireland, and France as well as painting the scenes that have inspired centuries of artists.
