My passion for painting is always on display, whether it be plein air painting in sunny Florida in the winter or in northern Minnesota in the summer. Yet, when I cannot be out in nature among the flora and the fauna with the fresh air and sunshine, not to mention the inquisitive passersby, I always have an abundance of photo references from living and traveling globally over the years.
Pursuing art in multiple forms throughout my life included teaching art, commercial and private art framing, designing ads and designing and decorating our family homes in Minnesota, Florida, Michigan, Illinois, and Hawaii as well as England and Switzerland. I have always had a dedicated studio in or outside our home.  I have to paint.
Creating a painting through pastel, oil, sumi-e or watercolor are my favorite mediums.  However since 2005 pastel has captured my passion for painting.  Opening a box of pastels with the many rich, beautiful colors makes me smile.  Sticks of colored pigment applied to sanded papers, with a light sweeping motion or a determined mark for brightness, not only draws the viewer into the painting, but also can make for an award-winning painting.
Studying under many pastel masters, including Lyn Asselta, Robert Carston, Doug Dawson, Margaret Dyer, Albert Handel, Nancy Nowak and Liz Haywood-Sullivan, has enriched my passion for my own impressionistic style.
Receiving many awards in multiple shows from Florida to Minnesota to Hawaii and Switzerland is an honor.  Many of my paintings are in private collections.
I am currently the president of Southwest Florida Pastel Society and a member of the International Association of Pastels, the Art Council of Southwest Florida and the United Arts Council, the Piedmont Pastel Society and the Center for the Arts of Bonita Springs.
 I have to paint.
