I love color, light and the beauty of nature. For me, the creation of art is exciting and therapeutic. I am primarily a landscape painter and work in oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels. My style is impressionistic and I frequently paint the landscapes of Texas and the Southwest.  As a child, I was introduced to the beauty of this area on family camping trips.  My husband and I continue to summer in Utah and we spend part of our time taking photos that I can use as sources for my paintings.
I am a native Houstonian and began my art studies at Glassell School of Art in the late 60's. I then studied acrylic painting with Lamar Briggs for 2 years.   In the 1980's, I switched my medium to watercolor and was fortunate to study with Barbara Jeffrey Clay for several years.  I continue to attend workshops at the Watercolor Art Society of Houston.
Landscapes remain my favorite subject and I am greatly influenced by my studies with Steve Parker.  He introduced me to plein aire painting and with fellow artists, I have painted the beautiful landscapes of Houston, Galveston and the Hill Country.  Recently, I have started to work in pastels and am taking classes with Caroline Ratliff, an award winning pastelist.  The luminosity of this medium is perfect for creating landscapes.
I am an active member of the Houston Art Society and have won many awards in their member shows.  My work hangs in homes in and around Houston.
