Patty Bailey Sheets is native to the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina. She lives in Lewisville, NC and works in her shared studio, Studio 202, in the Arts District of downtown Winston-Salem.
Her heirloom quality oil portraits capture the essence of the subject with a poignantly sensitive classic realism. Her paintings are composed to express the spirit of the subject in a moment in time. In addition to portraits, Patty loves painting animals, still life, figurative, and landscape.Patty's formal education began at the School of Design at NC State University and continued at Salem College where she earned a BA in Studio Art, graduating magna cum laude and with honors in art. While in school, Patty won the prestigious Rondthaler Award. Since graduating, she has been the winner of many national juried exhibits including some of the following: 2011 "Eye of the Artist" 2nd Place, 2012 "Eye of the Artist" 1st Place, 2012 "Dimensions" 1st Place, 2013 and 2014 "People's Choice Award" at the Germanton Gallery Miniature Show, and 2007 & 2014 "Best of Show" at the Germanton Gallery. 
Patty has been featured in local publications multiple times and has been an advocate for the arts in the Piedmont area since she was a teen. Nationally, Patty and her work have been featured in the July, 2011 edition of "Southwest Art" magazine and the 2008 edition of "The Art of the Portrait."
Patty has studied portrait painting with some of the best artists in the field including: Susan Lyon, Scott Burdick, Mary Minifie, Tom Edgerton, George Thompson, Dawn Whitelaw, and Rose Frantzen, and Casey Childs.
Patty's portraits are found in numerous private and corporate collections. Most recently, she was commissioned to paint the outgoing Dean of the School of Medicine for Wake Forest University.
