Artist’s Statement
I knew I wanted a life in art the day I graduated from high school. I highly recommend it, life is more colorful with a brush in your hand.  I tried numerous “art jobs” finding the perfect fit teaching art part- time in a high school and a few workshops.  I get a big reward convincing all ages they can learn how to do this, and I do, convince many, possibly hundreds a year.
My art is a true journey of fun with a fair amount of angst mixed in.  Most of my work is a scrapbook of my life, places I’ve been, people I have met but it is also a visual journal of playing with materials and testing new approaches.
I spent a quarter of a century doing large watercolors; I love the glow and fluidity of that media. Splashing is fun. But I have to try it all and lately returned to painting on location.  Plein Air painting is thrilling.  Nothing is more challenging than racing the light and fighting the elements to record a moment that will never happen again.
Never a dull day,
