Artist Pat Newell

An example of fine art by Pat Newell

Photo of Pat Newell

I am a Colorado artist and you can see that influence in a lot of my work, even abstracts, using the colors of the Southwest.  I came to Colorado in 1972.  We fell in love with the country, the scenery and the people, so we stayed and put down roots.
My goal as an artist is to share the joy I feel in the subject I am portraying.  Whether it is a piece of pottery, a glorious landscape, the haunting aspect of Indian ruins, or my newest love, abstracts, I strive to portray my subject with skill and insight. When I connect with my subject, everything around me disappears and I am lost.  I love to share that magic with others, letting them see through my eyes.
My background in art includes a BA in Fine Arts completed at Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado in 1987.  In addition I have studied art at Hendrix College, the University of Texas, Red Rocks Community College, Denver Art Students League, and Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanical Illustration as well as through workshops and classes by local artists.  Some of the workshops/classes have been with artists such as Carol Barns, Buffalo Kaplinski, Zolton Zabo, Michael Unteidt, Tim Deibler, Jackie McFarland, Pat Barr Clark, Nancy Condit, Carol Nelson and others.
My artwork has been accepted in both local and national juried competitions.  I am fortunate in having work in both corporate and private collections and it may be seen in local shows in the Denver metropolitan area and SPACe Gallery in La Veta, Colorado. Prints of my works may be obtained through fineartamerica.com.
