Welcome! Thank you for your interest in my work. Here's a brief bio:
I grew up in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and started to draw as soon as I could hold a pencil. My brothers and I were fortunate to grow up with woods and lakes nearby, and beloved dogs to explore them with. So from very early on, art and nature have been entwined in my life.
For the past twenty-plus years, I worked as a graphic designer, illustrator and art director on a wide variety of projects, from designing and illustrating packaging and communication materials, to art directing photo shoots for products and cookbooks. I have also illustrated children's books.
I almost literally stumbled into plein air painting while on a walk near home, when I saw a group of painters and learned they were part of a workshop given by Joe Paquet. I signed up for his 'boot camp' soon after, and it was a revelation. Besides being a supremely gifted painter, Joe

I'm very fortunate to have a wonderful painting partner: my husband Tim, who (besides being a painter himself) is a recently retired middle-school art teacher. He is incredibly supportive of my efforts, and makes every painting trip a fun adventure - even when the canoe tips and all the gear and the wife end up under water.
My paintings are in many private collections, and have been included in the Minnesota State Fair and Northern Lights juried competitions. I have exhibited my work at the Grand Hill Gallery in St. Paul, the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, the White Bear Center [...]
