Combining my love of the outdoors with my curious personality led me on my journey in becoming a representational oil painter.
Raised by parents who encouraged my independence, I spent my days exploring from sun-up to sundown.  This freedom influenced my connection with nature and guided my educational path. First enrolling in Woodworking, Drawing and Conservation in high school and Nature Studies, Environmental Education and Art Appreciation in college, I was building a resume that would later lead me to becoming an artist. While earning a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Parks Management and a Masters of Education in Professional Development both from the University of Wisconsin - Lacrosse, I was introduced to a few 'founding fathers' that forever impacted my view of the world: John Muir, Aldo Leopold, Gifford Pinchot and Barry Commoner. These men pioneered current preservation and conservation of land and taught me how 'everything is connected to everything else', one of Barry Commoners - Four Laws of Ecology.
My paintings are rooted in the fundamentals of representational painting with an emphasis on color. I began painting over 10 years ago and am currently training with Kami Mendlik at the St Croix River School of Painting studying from life in both plein air and studio painting. To further my artistic passion and education, I participate in workshops taught by talented and well studied representational painters, observe masterpieces in local museums and around the globe when traveling and study the works of the great masters.  My goal is to become a better painter by capturing a sense of light and evoking an emotional response from the viewer.  I am not one to shy away from a challenge, as I am a trier!
