Nanette Biers is a Northern California painter with a rich and varied background of professional achievement. She grew up in Southern Florida, where the lush tropical environment inspired her to draw and paint from an early age. She received her Bachelor's degree in Fine Art with honors from UC Berkeley. Starting in 1980, for the next three decades she pursued a career as a freelance commercial illustrator, working through her NYC agents, Morgan Gaynin, Inc., and garnering awards and appearances in several prestigious illustration annuals. She became known for her painterly realism, working exclusively in oils. In addition to commissioned paintings done for clients across the United States, she steadily produced personal works, exploring varied subject matter, from landscapes and cityscapes to portraits and figures. Today her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections around the country.
Beginning in 2009, inspired by the scenic beauty of the landscape in Northern California, Nanette shifted the focus of her career to creating fine art images, primarily landscapes depicting the San Francisco Bay Area and West Marin’s hills and ranches, as well as scenes from California’s  central coast and the wine country. She also began painting en plein air, adding a new source of excitement and challenge to her work. She has participated in dozens of group shows, winning many awards during the past decade, many of them hosted by the California Art Club, the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, the American Impressionist Society, and the Randy Higbee Gallery. Since 2015 she's been included as a participating artist in "Ranches and Rolling Hills", the renowned annual fundraising exhibition benefiting the Marin Agricultural Land Trust. In 2019 she was accepted into the California Art Club's prestigious 108th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition. She has resided in Marin County, CA for over 30 years.
