Nancy Ann Crowley, was born in Chicago, Illinois.  Nancy is a daughter, from a family, where writers and artists prevail.  Her father was a graduate and professor of the Art Institute Chicago and was her artistic mentor as she was growing up.  She began painting at 6 years old, with fond memories of sketching and painting in her father's studio.  "My father was very encouraging and patient with me, knowing that it takes time, maturity and education to become a great artist".  Through out her education, Nancy Ann has won many awards and recognition for her artwork.
After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, from California State University Stanislaus, her artwork was selected for the college's permanent art collection.
Her inspiration comes from the following artists: Caravaggio, for his dramatic use of light (chiaroscuro) to express emotion, J.M.W.Turner, for the intensity of hue to represent the evanescent light, Van Gogh, for his brutally honest depiction of life and his fearless use of color and Arthur T. Waugh, her father, for his belief in her artwork and for his brilliance as an abstract expressionist painter.
While living in Europe, Nancy Ann enjoyed traveling, extensively, and  enjoying the beauty of  the masterpieces that she had previously studied as a student.  She exhibited her artwork and taught art in Europe in various private and public sectors.
Nancy Ann says, "The two loves of my life are my family and my artwork". She and her family currently reside in the beautiful foothills of San Jose, Ca.  She continues to travel to Europe, especially Italy, to paint the breath taking landscapes of Tuscany and to participate in international shows and competitions.
Today, Nancy Ann's masterpieces can be found in various galleries, and in private and corporate collections in the United States , Japan, Italy and Kuwait
