Artist Muriel Scheidt

An example of fine art by Muriel Scheidt

Photo of Muriel Scheidt

I have always enjoyed animals and the outdoors since childhood and enjoyed art classes throughout my school years. After high school I attended San Diego State University where I studied the natural sciences. I met my  husband there and then moved to Northern California to attend Humboldt State University then we moved back to San Diego. Years and 2 children later, our family moved to the beautiful Oregon Coast.
After settling down for a year I returned to exploring art. My art education continued by taking lessons from local artists, reading art instruction publications, watching videos and taking a couple workshops from E. John Robinson. I traveled to Wyoming to learn from a Western Artist, Charles Dayton to paint horses from life.  I am currently enrolled in Matt Smith online mentoring course and have learned a lot. I am a firm believer of going to museums and galleries to see other artists’ techniques and styles because there is so much to learn from them. I try to paint in Plein Air as much as I can.
I have traveled throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador. There is so much to see and explore everywhere I go. I like to paint a variety of subjects and moods because that is what life is like. If you can see your subject matter from life, then you  can understand it better."My work is in private collections in the US, Canada, the UK and Sweden.
