An example of fine art by Muriel Fawcett

Photo of Muriel Fawcett

Muriel  Fawcett is inspired by the great natural beauty of the areas in which she has always lived. Throughout her life, the artist has been influenced by the nature around her, while enjoying skiing, hiking and camping in the wilderness. She grew up in New England, raised her family in the Finger Lakes region of of Upstate New York, and currently resides in the mountainous region of East Tennessee.
After working several years in watercolor, her current focus lies in the rich textures of oil painting. Her work reflects her love of the landscapes  that surround her in Loudon County and areas around the Cherokee National Forest and Smokey  Mountain National Park.
Fawcett has studied with Tennessee artists Paul deMarrais, Roger Dale Brown, Dawn Whitelaw and Kathie Odom. She has been influenced by works of Richard Schmid, Kevin Macpherson and French Impressionists.
The artist is a member of Tuesday Painters, an East Tennessee plein air group, as well as of The Art Guild of Tellico Village. She has been involved in painting murals in several  buildings in her community where people gather for worship, education, help with child abuse and a food pantry.
