Morris Reese , Jr.
A native of South Texas, Morris Reese has been an attorney since 1969, practicing first in Laredo, Texas and then in San Angelo, Texas.  He recently retired and hopes to enjoy his painting and his grandchildren.
He started painting in oil about 15 years ago with help and encouragement from Hugh Campbell, Raul Ruiz and Jimmy Don Cox, noted local western artists.  As he progressed, his painting interest moved toward landscapes, and he has focused in this genre, principally in the West Texas and Big Bend areas.  Morris has been very fortunate in having taken workshops from some of the premier landscape plein air painters in the Country.  He has taken from such notables as Ralph Oberg of Colorado, Matt Smith of Arizona,  Skip Whitcomb of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and T. Allen Lawson of Maine, to name a few.  The ability to have taken lessons from such notables has been an inspiration and has offered him the great opportunity to visit and become friends with each of them.
“The ability to paint outdoors, surrounded by the landscape, allows you to see color and value in a way that photographs cannot duplicate.  It allows you to thoroughly be in the moment with your subject; an experience worth the effort in its own right.”
Morris is a signature member of the American Plains Artists, a member of Oil Painters of America, the Outdoor Painters Society and the Austin Plein Air Society.
Morris is married to the lovely Anne and has two wonderful daughters, Nickie and Rachel.  He also is the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Reese James Trulove, Zac O'Byrne Haine, Reagan Elizabeth Trulove, Samuel Morris Tweedy Haine and August Marcus Haine.
