"My environment has always been important to me.  My mother taught me the beauty of home and music; my father shared his the love of the sea; and my family and friends share the beauty of their surroundings as we celebrate simple moments in time.  My professional career has led me collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the country as my colleagues strive to create extraordinary built environments that have an amazing sense of place and foster community, yet treasure and protect the landscape and wildlife.

Monica Van Dyke Johnson started her love affair with art beginning in elementary school, studying with a newspaper fashion illustrator in Newport News, Virginia where her late father was stationed with the Air Force.  She continued her studies throughout her secondary and university education.
She painted and enjoyed drawing with pastels in early adulthood, then set her personal art aside while raising three daughters and pursuing a business career as a marketing and sales professional. Monica has led major marketing and sales campaigns on behalf of numerous clients located throughout the United States, managing creative teams and, at times, personally serving as art director and as a graphic designer.  Monica and her associates have been recognized for their work, winning a number of national awards along the way.
