Molly Morton has had a lifetime involved in a multitude of artistic endeavors. She is now at the magic age of 65 and has just reinvented her painting style and subject matter. Her interest is in bright bold colors using the figure as her motif. Birds are stylized and offer a romantic mode of freedom of flight. Molly is not shy to flip the brush around and scribble an edge, revealing color surprises underneath!
Painting in her studio high in the Colorado Rockies, offers her the beautiful western skies and high desert atmospheres that roll colors into one another! Walking out to her studio on a fresh snowy morning gives her the inspiration to paint that lavender sky she saw the evening before. With so much winter surrounding her...it keeps her happy painting the boldest of colors and surprising the viewer with new color combinations to challenge the senses!
Molly graduated from University of Colorado with a BFA in 1972. Then moved to Southern California to study with the well known professors at the Los Angeles Art Center. She studied illustration and design for her graduate work. Returning to Boulder and her beloved Rockies, she pursued a career at the then new Celestial Seasonings Tea Company and worked in the sales, advertising and art departments for eight years. Having been raised in Southern California...she found her dreams in the Colorado Rockies and added skiing to her joys in life. In her thirties, She owned and operated her own successful design studio, but always pursuing her drawing and painting.
Her next joy in life was her daughter Caroline, born in 1985. When Caroline went to kindergarten in the early nineties she returned to CU to study with the painting professors...she was [...]
