Mike Weaver is a professional artist who currently lives in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. He has been studying painting since age 12, when he received a set acrylic paints as a Christmas gift. Since that time, he has expanded his choice of mediums to include oil paints, inks and gouache. Mike attended the Milan Art Institute and had the great fortune to study with some of today's best artists, including Phil Starke, Kathryn Stats, Bruce Becker, and Kenn Backhaus.
Mike describes his style as modern impressionism. Although he has been influenced by the Bucks County, Pennsylvania impressionists, his style has also been greatly affected by modern representational painters. Mike's art is a blending of self expression and interpretation of objects that catch his discriminating eye. Stepping away from the ordinary, his paintings represent something that has attracted his attention, whether it is the local landscape, the simplicity of fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, or an intriguing person. The interplay of light and shadow entice him to create a piece with a dose of dramatic lighting. Mike's paintings, especially his landscapes, are impressionistic with a touch of realism. Although he paints landscapes, still lifes, and figures, his favorite subject is the local landscape, which allows him to preserve this scenery on canvas for generations to come.
Mike's work, for the last decade, has been almost exclusively in oil, although more recently he has increased his output of acrylic paintings and has began dabbling in gouache and inks. He has exhibited his art extensively online as well as in the southeastern Pennsylvania community. His work is in collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Germany.
