An example of fine art by Michal Artal

Photo of Michal Artal

As a young adult Michal and her husband pursued the field of medicine, first in Israel and then in the US. Michal completed further training in Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis, and had a successful career both teaching and practicing at several universities in Los Angeles, NY, and St. Louis.
While continuing to focus on her full time career in psychiatry, and together with her husband raising their 3 children, she gradually began her painting journey.
Mainly self taught she continued to develop her skills by studying with a number of contemporary masters:
David Leffel, Cherie McGraw, John Budicin, Carolyn Anderson, Jove Wang, Calvin Liang, Laura Robb and others.
Michal credits her mother's creative influence on her own love of art. Her mother was a sculptor, a painter, a ceramicist, and created her own puppet theatre.
A long time Los Angeles resident, Michal and her husband lived in St. Louis for several years. After retiring from her university position, she has been painting full time, returning to So. California.
