An example of fine art by Michael Strickland

Photo of Michael Strickland

Mike Strickland first discovered an interest in art in the sixth grade under a gifted teacher, Mrs. Wiley, who awakened in him many interests and abilities. He then took lessons in oil painting under Lee Garner in Marietta but since that time has been mostly self-trained until relatively recently.
To improve his skills. Mike began taking annual workshops in acrylic landscape painting from Jerry Yarnell. His last workshop with Jerry Yarnell was in January, 2013 just before he retired in February.  Since retiring, he has been traveling to Jerry's studio in Skiatook, Oklahoma each year for private lessons.  Through his study, he has earned both the Yarnell basic and the advanced Certification in Landscape Painting.
To improve his skills in painting portraits in oil, he is now studying with Nikki Davidson in Dallas, Georgia as his primary teacher, although he also takes several workshops each year from outstanding artists.  "If we're not growing, we're dying."
Mike works in all mediums including oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, graphite, and charcoal.
