Biography
Michael Saunders loves New England, especially Massachusetts. His inspiration for the paintings you see here come from many visits to protected land reservations and trails across MA. Primarily a studio painter, Michael also loves painting in the outdoors "plein air". A perfect day consists of hiking, taking photographs and setting up to paint the beauty around him. Michael firmly believes that nature is the best teacher to inform studio work.
Michael has always had a love of art, but his interest in oil painting began later in life. His journey began by enrolling in art classes for both drawing and oil painting. Since this time Michael has attended multiple workshops offered by amazing local artists and works to ingest this knowledge to create paintings on topics he is passionate about.
Michael resides in Central Massachusetts, works full time and follows his artistic passions as often as possible. He is the father of 3 adult children that he loves and adores.
