The Artist Says:

I am a self-taught artist who developed an intense love of drawing during my childhood in Mobile, Alabama.  My attraction to art continued into young adulthood and, upon entering The University of Alabama, I pursued a minor in Graphic Design.  After graduating, it became evident to me that the design industry was changing from pencil-based to computerized designing.  Discouraged by the thought of staring at a computer monitor all day,  I abandoned my dream of a career as an artist and committed myself to motherhood in the city of New Orleans.  After years away from art, I gradually returned by casually painting children’s furniture and then with faux finishes on walls, flooring, and furniture.  When I was forced to evacuate during Hurricane Katrina, I began painting on canvas and spent the three months away from New Orleans renewing the interest in art that I had long suppressed.  During this time, I became reacquainted with the love I always knew that I had.  Shortly thereafter, I participated in my first art show.

My artwork is all mixed media.  I love experimenting with new styles, textures, colors,  and techniques with lots of layering.  I am passionate about texture and frequently encourage people to touch my art.  I have learned to expect the unexpected, as most of my pieces seem to take on their own personality which creates a very unique outcome.

I am a member of “The Whimsies,” a New Orleans based art group which hosts an annual outdoor art show each Spring and participate in several art shows in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast throughout the year.

I remain a proud resident of New Orleans with my husband and three children.
